COMPETITIVENESS, SUBSIDIARITY AND INDUSTRIAL POLICY What does competitiveness mean? In recent years, much discussion of economic policy has become dominated by the notion of ‘competitiveness’ with little notion of how this concept can be extended beyond the individual firm, or of how it might coexist with the wider interests of communities or nations. In this volume a group of leading international economists explore these and other issues. The book includes chapters addressing different aspects of competitiveness, subsidiarity and policy issues. It focuses on theory, on cross-country comparisons, and on single country case studies. Yannis Katsoulacos is Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business.
