It brings together psychologists and linguists whose joint concern is finegrained description of text structure levels as they relate to readers' ongoing activities. Part of the originality of this volume lies in its systematic efforts to compare and contrast theoretical models and empirical data. Equally important is its international scope: the contributors are among the best known European and American specialists in the field. This book is divided into four parts. Part One analyses the ways in which representation construction processes are related to text type and cognitive architectures.
