Political Philosophy: A Very Short Introduction (very Short Introductions)

E-Book Overview

I've just been skimming the book I picked up from the library, but I'm quite disappointed not to find in the index any of the following names who represent thinkers from the critical theory, Continental, communitarian traditions: Adorno, Habermas, MacIntyre, Strauss, etc. True, Miller has very little room to work with, but with an introductory book like this I like to get a lay of the land and a sense of how key (contemporary) thinkers think. I suspect Miller does a good job of laying out the main issues in the main, liberal tradition of Western thought, including what relatively recent thinkers (he seems to cover Isaiah Berlin well) have to say on these topics. I would recommend saving up for John Christman's _Social and Political Philosophy: A Contemporary Introduction_ rather than getting this book.
