INTRODUCTION This bibliography contains an annotated and indexed list of all publications relating to Romani linguistics in the broad sense of the word. The last decade has seen a rise in interest in the Romani language. Not only has the number of scholars working on Romani increased considerably, there is also increasing recognition of the language on a political level. For example, some states, such as Sweden, Finland and Macedonia, have recently recognised Romani as an official minority language, and others have used the language in official documents (e.g. the USA in its census). Romani speakers also show more and more interest in the language beyond its use in the family: there is an unprecedented boom of writings of essays, poetry, prose and news in Romani, both in print, on the radio, television and the internet. There are now more than 500 monographs wholly or partly in Romani, and many dozens of periodicals. More and more Roma also take an academic interest in the language.
