Correlations And Fluctuations In Qcd: Proceedings Of The 10th International Workshop On Multiparticle Production Crete, Greece 8 - 15 June 2002

E-Book Overview

Containing a wide spectrum of articles which report the current research progress in topics concerning the dynamics of multiparticle production in high energy collision processes, this book's emphasis is on nonperturbative aspects of QCD. The topics covered are: the phase diagram of QCD and related transitions; correlations and fluctuations in a variety of experiments involving multiparticle production (e+e- annihilation, pp collisions and heavy ion collisions); recent theoretical and experimental developments in interferometry and particle correlations; event-by-event fluctuations in high energy experiments; concepts of chaos and complexity in multiparticle dynamics and related phenomenology; relevant theoretical ideas based on QCD as a field theory.

V This page intentionally left blank PREFACE The 2002 International Workshop on Multiparticle Production, tenth in the series, was held in Crete, Greece from June 8 through June 15, 2002. It was hosted by the Department of Nuclear and Particle Physics of the University of Athens and its specific scientific topic was: “Correlations and Fluctuations in Quantum Chromodynamics”. The first meeting in the series was held in Aspen (1986) and subsequently, the workshops have been held in Jinan (1987), Perugia (1988), Santa Fe (1990), Ringberg (1991), Cracow (1993), Nijmegen (1996), Matrahaza (1998), Torino (2000) and now Crete (2002). According to the tradition, the Workshop in Crete was a meeting of a small number of researchers (approximately 50): experimentalists and theorists, gathered together with the aim to present their latest findings in the field of multiparticle production and discuss new ideas, measurements and methods in our effort to understand the complex structure of the QCD vacuum. New phenomena and novel theoretical developments, ranging from cri
