FOREWORD MARK HAMBOURG
was born in Bogutchar in the province of South Voronesh, Russia, on May 3Oth, 1879, and showed promise of great musical talent at such an early age that his father, himself a professor of advanced piano-playing, personally took his musical education in hand, and brought him out at Moscow as a juvenile prodigy in 1889, afterwards taking him to tour in England.
