In its preparation some acquaintance with the subject on the part of the reader has been taken for granted. DAVID FoRSYTH. INTRODUCTION ~suppose that most medical men who come to practise psycho-analysis have their interest first awakened by reading psycho-analytical literature. They approach the practical side with an adequate or even extensive knowledge of theoretical considerations, but with no greater practical skill than can be acquired by studying the published accounts of analyses made by others.
