Requirements: Specialization Requirements for Certification in Physical Education (K-12): 1. A bachelor’s or higher degree with a teacher education major in physical education, or 2. A bachelor’s or higher degree with thirty semester hours in physical education to include the areas specified below: A. Twelve semester hours in instructional design and content of physical education, B. Motor development, C. Kinesiology, D. Administration of physical education, E. Applied exercise physiology, F. Adaptive or physical education for exceptional students, G. Care and prevention of human injures, and H. Theory and practice in coaching. Temporary Certificate (The Temporary Certificate is valid for three school years and is nonrenewable. It allows time to complete the requirements for a Professional Certificate while teaching full-time.) 1. Complete all application process requirements, 2. Hold at least a bachelor’s degree, and 3. Demonstrate mastery of subject area knowledge or meet subject specialization with a 2.5 GPA for a requested subject. The Professional Certificate (The Professional Certificate is valid for five school years and is renewable. It is Florida’s highest educator certificate.) 1. Complete all application process requirements, 2. Hold at least a bachelor’s degree, 3. Demonstrate mastery of subject area knowledge for a requested subject, 4.
