The Pacific Arts of Polynesia and Micronesia Oxford History of Art Adrienne L. Kaeppler is Curator of Oceanic Ethnology at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, and was previously a research anthropologist at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. A recipient of the Silver Jubilee Anniversary Medal given by the King of Tonga for contributions to Tongan culture, she has written, edited, and co-edited over two hundred articles and books. Her research focuses on the cultures of the Pacific and on the interrelationships between social structure and the arts, especially dance, music, and the visual arts, Oxford History of Art Titles in the Oxford History of Art series are up-to-date, fully illustrated introductions to a wide variety of subjects written by leading experts in their field.
