The Magnetic Universe: Geophysical And Astrophysical Dynamo Theory

E-Book Overview

Within the recent few years the pioneering results of the space missions and the rapid advances in computing very complex problems have enabled an detailed investigation of galactic and cosmic magnetic fields. Starting from the physical concepts of magnetohydrodynamics the authors adopt their calculations to star formation and planetary evolution, the galactic dynamo and strong fields in astrophysics. New experimental results which prove impressively the validity of the complex simulations and algorithms to modern astrophysics are provided to the reader. The crossdisciplinary approach to merge concepts from geophysics to applications in the cosmic evolution makes the book appealing for a wide field of an interested audience in physics, astrophysics and geophysics.
